  • Davis on the bank

    Latest Content 22 Aug 2014 | 9:31 am

We just made a big move about 12 or 15 miles down the lake. While everything to this point has been off shore, Davis is now on the bank. This could be where he and Scanlon are sharing water but I see no Scanlon. Exclude from series:  Included

  • A little slower than yesterday

    Latest Content 22 Aug 2014 | 9:25 am

Brandon Palaniuk was looking at his electronics and making repeated casts and then he hooked up. What was crazier was in the middle of the fight, it came off. Palaniuk yelled. Then before he could say another word he hooked up again.   "Another one came and got it! I lost the fish and another bit before I knew it."   He proceeded to land the fish, but the smallmouth didn't cull.   "I've got probably 11 to 11 1/2 pounds right now...it's a little slower than yesterday." Exclude from series:  Included

  • Rojas and Kriet

    Latest Content 22 Aug 2014 | 9:18 am

Dean Rojas and Jeff Kriet are a lot alike: neither of them likes to be in a crowd. Rojas is doing what he does best, and Kriet is all by his lonesome, but by choice. "Here, a lot of guys run to a crowd, I run away," he said. Exclude from series:  Included

  • Powroznik upgrades his limit

    Latest Content 22 Aug 2014 | 9:14 am

We returned to the north end of Cayuga where we started, just in time to see Jacob Powroznik boat a good bass. The fish weighs 4 pounds, easy, and it enabled him to cull a 1 1/2-pounder. BASSTrakk had him in fifth with 13 pounds for the day. It has just been updated to show him third with 15 today 35-4 in cumulative weight. We saw him take another fish under 2 pounds out of his live well and look at it, so he has plenty of room to upgrade his weight.   Exclude from series:  Included read more

  • Vaughan Stakes His Claim on the James

    FLWOutdoors.com 21 Aug 2014 | 7:19 pm

RICHMOND, Va. - He couldn't figure out the entire puzzle, but the pieces that Wayne Vaughan mastered earned him the day-one lead with 23-7 at the Rayovac FLW Series Northern Division event on the James River.

  • Why the Wheels Fell Off: Lake Murray

    FLWOutdoors.com 21 Aug 2014 | 2:18 pm

Hot spots run out, get moved in on by others and change with conditions, but the 2014 Forrest Wood Cup wasn't about spots. Lake Murray's deep fish followed roving herring, and shallow fish were widespread. Therefore, most pros changed areas daily, moved frequently through the day or stayed on the move all the time. Some ran specific patterns, while others junk-fished. Unpredictable action, including inexplicable hero-to-zero days, began during practice, and everyone knew the uncertainty would continue through the tournament. Of course, knowing that today's action promises nothing about tomorrow doesn't make it any easier when the bite actually tapers and keeps you out of a cut or prevents you from finishing the job, especially when you're fishing for half a million dollars and the title of world champion. We asked several pros that experienced a costly drop-off to share their perspective on what went wrong.

  • Fantasy Fishing Players Win Big

    FLWOutdoors.com 21 Aug 2014 | 11:59 am

Steve Pasker of Waterloo, Iowa, was the top-scoring FLW Fantasy Fishing player in 2014 and won the season-long grand prize of $10,000. Pasker scored 12,081 points throughout the seven-event season (six Walmart FLW Tour events and the Forrest Wood Cup). His victory closely mirrors Chevy pro Anthony Gagliardi's 2014 season, which began with disqualification at the season opener and culminated with a Forrest Wood Cup win by 1 ounce over Scott Canterbury. Pasker struggled in the first Fantasy Fishing event at Okeechobee, but he outlasted Michael Austin of Elmhurst, Pa., by just 2 points in the final standings to squeak through to victory. "This is awesome," says Pasker. "I didn't think I had any chance after the first tournament of the year at Lake Okeechobee. I didn't have a good finish at all in that tournament, but in the next six events I did pretty well.

  • Give Gagliardi a break

    FLWOutdoors.com 21 Aug 2014 | 9:30 am

Anthony Gagliardi didn't even have time to savor his Forrest Wood Cup victory on Lake Murray before the naysayers started showing up. He isn't a good sportsman, say some. His victory should be nullified, say others.

  • James River Jam

    FLWOutdoors.com 21 Aug 2014 | 7:58 am

RICHMOND, Va. - On tidal fisheries like the James River, optimism and opportunity are inextricably linked to water level. For anglers competing in the Rayovac FLW Series Northern Division, today's tide schedule will present a brief period of opportunity, followed by a long grind the rest of the day.
